About llms.txt Builder
llms.txt is a plain-text file at the root of a site, written for language models rather than crawlers: what the product is, what the important pages are, what is true about it. Search engines ignore it; assistants that fetch your page do not have to.
This builder reads your sitemap, groups the URLs by section, and writes a draft you can edit and publish at /llms.txt. It does not fetch every page — the grouping comes from your own URL structure.
Questions
- Does llms.txt actually do anything?
- It is a convention, not a standard, and no model is obliged to read it. It costs one file to publish and it is the only place where you get to state plainly what your product is and is not.
- Where do I put the file?
- At the root: https://yourdomain.com/llms.txt, served as text/plain.
- Where does the draft come from?
- Your sitemap.xml. If the site has no sitemap, there is nothing to group, and the builder says so instead of inventing pages.
